Distribusi dan Potensi Ekologi Bambu di Hutan Lindung

Abstrak

Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai Distribusi dan Potensi ekologi bambu di Hutan Lindung Bukit Jambul Gunung Patah Pagaralam Propinsi Sumatera Selatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis bambu, distribusi dan potensi ekologinya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan survey, metode penentuan sampling secara purposive, data diolah secara tabulasi berdasarkan data primer yang didapat di lapangan. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 11 jenis bambu, marga yang dominan adalah dari marga Gigantochloa sebanyak 5 marga, sedangkan jenis yang dominan adalah Gigantochloa robusta dengan Indeks Nilai Penting 66,97 %, sistem perakaran terdiri atas sympodial 4 marga dan monopodial 1 marga, kerapatan jenis bambu berkisar antara 1,14 – 1,25 individu/ha. Distribusi bambu di wilayah penelitian cukup tersebar dengan pH tanah berkisar antara 5,9 – 7,1. Suhu terendah pada waktu malam 13o C, tertinggi disiang hari 29o C. Ketinggian tempat antara 2015 –2385 m dpl. Kemiringan lereng berkisar antara 10o - 45o. Tebal serasah berkisar antara 10 – 40 cm. Karakteristik perakaran bambu memungkinkan tanaman ini menjaga sistem hidrologis sebagai pengikat tanah dan air, sehingga dapat digunakan sebagai tanaman konservasi. Perlu dilakukan kebijakan reboisasi dengan menggunakan bambu sebagai tanaman konservasi.

The Distribution and Ecological Potential of Bamboo
in Bukit Jambul Gunung Patah Forest Pagaralam, South Sumatera

ABSTRACT

The research of the distribution and ecological potential of bamboo in Bukit Jambul Gunung Patah Forest, Pagaralam, South Sumatera had been carried out. The research was to know the kinds of bamboo, the distribution and their ecological potential. The data were collected by surveying, the method for getting sample was done purposively. Then, the data were tabulated based on the primary data got from the survey. From the research, the writer found 11 kinds of bamboo. The dominant species were from Gigantochloa species (5 species), while the dominant kinds were Gigantochloa robusta with Significant Point Index 66,97%, the rooting system consisted of 4 species sympodial and 1 species monopodial, the distance between one kind of bamboo in the surveyed area was spread with the soil pH 5,9 – 7,1, the lowest temperature was 13o C at night, and the highest temperature was 29o C at the day. The hight of the area was 2015 – 2385 m above the sea surface. The gradient was between 10o – 45o. the thickness of leaves was between 10 – 40 cm. the characteristic of bamboo root may make the plant keep the hydrology system to tighten the soil and water that can be used as conservation plant. It is necessary to make policy for regenerating the destructed forest by using bamboos as conservation plant.
